On Monday, November 18th, sports enthusiasts gathered to celebrate the grand opening of TopShot, the first facility of its kind in Central Texas dedicated to badminton and pickleball. Mr. Pullela Gopichand, Chief National Coach for the Indian national badminton team, attended the event alongside members of the Cedar Park City Council, the Chamber of Commerce, local business owners, and sports fans.
Mr. Mel Kirkland, Cedar Park City Council Place 2, officially inaugurated the TopShot facility by cutting the ribbon, while Mr. Pullela Gopichand, renowned for his achievements in badminton and excellence in coaching, and recipient of the Padma Bhushan and Dronacharya awards, cut the ceremonial ribbon for the court area. The facility is the vision of a group of passionate sports enthusiasts and is designed to welcome athletes of all levels.
In addition to the badminton and pickleball courts, the facility offers the local community an opportunity to stay active with a fully equipped gym, which is ideal for pre-game warm-ups and post-game cool-downs.
A key highlight of the opening week was the presence of Mr. Pullela Gopichand, founder of Badminton Gurukul. TopShot has partnered with Badminton Gurukul to create a specialized badminton training program for emerging athletes.
